Abstract

This poster dives into the exciting realm of underwater data centers and more importantly, aims to focus on a few different topics - who owns them, how they are regulated, as well as their ecological impact on the ocean. We will start by discussing a brief background of the historical side of underwater data centers and how they can be utilized. Following this we will cover the need for clear rules about where these data centers should be put and how to protect the area surrounding them. Finally, we will discuss the importance of making sure the data stored in these centers is safe, secure, and up to date with the most recent network security protocols. In summary, the goal of this research project is to identify the best way to implement underwater data centers while maintaining data security, protecting the environment, and ensuring all legal requirements are being met appropriately.
