Preparing for the Online Learning Environment

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentation

Abstract

Adult learners returning to online education can face considerable barriers to the successful completion of their degree. These obstacles may be due to work and family obligations or lack of familiarity with course and academic requirements, such as self-directed learning and the use of educational technology. This online associate to bachelor’s degree in nursing completion program developed and implemented a preparatory course designed to familiarize students with the online learning technological and personal skill requirements that would lead to academic success. This presentation will outline the development and implementation of this course, the preliminary findings, and will review implications for future practice and adaptation of the framework utilized to other institutions.
