Abstract

Incivility in nursing education impedes learning and may lead to threatening and unsafe behaviors. Because these actions may also have a negative effect on patient care, the boards of nursing are beginning to sanction nursing programs for uncivil conduct. The author describes how pretest and posttest assessments, an evidence-based framework for establishing collaborative partnerships, and a series of faculty and student workshops were implemented to foster a culture of civility in one program of nursing.
