Abstract

Pandanus Stickman sect. Foullioya Warb., one of the 14 endemic sections on the 19 of the genus Pandanus growing in Madagascar, is revised taxonomically. This section is circumscribed to comprise six species of shrubs pledged to littoral forest, low and mid-elevation moist forests of Madagascar. A new species of the north east mid-elevation forests of the island is described: Pandanus humbertii. A narrow, progressively attenuate in the upper part leaf and a drupe with the free part pyramidal, short with a picked apex characterize this species. Pandanus bilamellatus is a synonym of P. malgassicus. Two species, P. barbellatus and P. boivinii do not belong to the section. An identification key to the species of the section Foullioya is proposed.
