Abstract

High sodium intake is a big contributor to health issues in the U.S, including but not limited to cardiovascular health and hypertension. The average American consumes twice the recommended amount of sodium per day, making us highly susceptible to these long-term health issues. Social determinants, such as low socioeconomic status and race, increase the likelihood of these issues. Our goal of this research was to introduce ways in which we can implement changes at the local and individual levels. With certain changes, we hope to see state policies and other health organizations prioritize these implementations in order to lower sodium intake amongst Americans.
