Abstract

Halogen substituted analogs of 5-(phenylthio)ribose were synthesized and tested as inhibitors of the methylthioribose kinase-containing pathogen. Klebsiella pneumoniae. All of the compounds exhibit good activity against organism. 5-(4-Iodophenylthio)ribose demonstrated the most potent inhibitory effects with a 50% inhibitory concentration (IC₅₀) value of ^′2.5 picomolar (0.0009 ng/ml).
