Abstract
The series compounds La0.9Ca0.1Cr0.5B0.5O 3 (B = Mn, Fe, Ni) are synthesized by a wet chemical method. The crystal structure of the compounds belongs to the orthorhombic system. The electric conductivity of the compound in air is measured over a temperature range from 293 to 1073 K. The conductivity activation energy of the compound varies with the B ion. The electric conductivity of the compound increases gradually from La0.9Ca0.1Cr0.5Mn0.5O 3 to La0.9Ca0.1Cr0.5Fe0.5O 3 and La0.9Ca0.1Cr0.5Ni0.5O 3. The difference between the electrical conductivities of the compounds may be related not only to the difference between the activation energies, but also to that between the relative contents of the tetravalent chromium ion in the compounds caused by doping metal ions with different valence orbital ionization energy of 3d electron.
