Abstract

The Illinois TRUST Act is a legislative response that aims to protect immigrant families from deportation, enhance public safety, and bolster the economy. By limiting police collaboration with ICE, establishing uniform procedures for U visa applications, and ensuring that local governments refrain from discriminatory registries, the Act fosters trust between immigrant communities and law enforcement. The findings indicate that the Trust Act not only benefits immigrant families but also positively impacts all Illinois residents by promoting community safety and economic stability.
