Abstract
This volume is the first book-length pedagogical study to appear in Max van Manen's "Phenomenology of Practice" series with Routledge. At 112 pages, it comes without an author's or editor's preface, which leaves the reader uncertain about the circumstances of its development and composition. However, as these details are gradually deduced by the reader, they end up representing the book's principal, if not fatal, limitation. Nonetheless, this publication presents a well-developed adaptation of van Manen's "hermeneutic phenomenological" method of research at a relatively early point in its development.
