Abstract

A conference paper discussing importance of donating to political party committees for becoming a state legislative leader, prepared for the 2014 Annual Meeting of the Southern Political Science Association to be held in August 2014 in Washington D.C., is presented. Topics discussed include how position of a candidate in the party network can impact their career after the election, relationship between leadership and brokerage, and advantages brought by legislative leaders.
