Abstract
Omics technologies have grown at a very rapid pace, offering unprecedented opportunities to deal with complex biological and environmental challenges. Translational omics connects high-throughput data generation to practical applications in precision medicine, environmental management, and industrial biotechnology. In this regard, the intricate molecular profiling of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic data offers a holistic view of biological systems, opening new avenues in understanding and solving complex phenomena. Integration of multi-omics data into sophisticated computational tools will pave the way toward biomarker identification and the enhancement of drug responses and improved environmental interventions. We discuss methodological improvement, computational models, and metadata integration approaches underlying the field of omics in unveiling how they impact both clinical, sustainable agriculture, and environmental management applications. This chapter explains the need for translational omics: from the laboratory to real applications.
