What Are They Telling Us? Using Text Analytics to Assess Library Services

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentation

Abstract

In this session, you'll learn how to use Excel and free online tools to analyze large (OK, moderately large) sets of text data to gauge sentiment, user needs, and a variety of other components. The techniques presented can be used for survey data, email reference transactions, chat transcripts, focus group transcripts, social media, and other written information. The presentation will include an overview of ethical implications, data validity, and qualitative research methodology. Ellie promises that despite mention of Excel and analytics, this session will not be boring!
